Swelling of Inner Ears/Otitis

BELLADONNA 30, 200

Bell. is indicated in the beginning. Very useful in acute otitis.

Digging, boring, tearing pains which come suddenly and are most violent.

Inflammatory swelling of the ear and parotids.

Patient doesn’t allow anybody to touch his ear. Not only the ear but the whole face is also red and hot.

Pain better by warmth.

CHAMOMILLA 30, 200

Cham. is also indicated in the beginning in the inflammations of the ear.

Pains are more violent and are attended with red cheeks.

Violent pain, worse from warmth.

Better from warmth also is a symptom of Chamomilla.

Discharge of thin pus.

Patient is worse at night.

PULSATILLA 6, 30

Puls is indicated in the beginning.

The ear is hot, red and swollen.

Very severe darting, pulsating, tearing pains. Pains are worse in the evening and at night.

Puls. is also useful in chronic otitis media.

HEPAR SULPH. 200

Hep. S. is useful when suppuration impends after Bell., Cham. or Puls. It is seldom indicated in the beginning.

There is great soreness and sensitiveness to the slightest touch, out of proportion to the actual pain.

If given high (200 and above) before pus is formed (and not repeated too often) it will check the whole inflammatory process and prevent suppuration. But, if the pus is already formed it will hasten the suppuration and help the healing.

Pains are worse at night, better wrapping up.

MERCURIUS SOLUBILIS 30

Merc. Sol. is very useful remedy in suppurative middle ear diseases with swelling of parotid glands and offensive breath. Hardness of hearing due to swollen tonsils. Pains are worse at night. Merc. Sol. is useful especially in chronic cases.

KALI BICHROMICUM 30

Kali. Bi. is useful in otitis with pains of sharp stitching or lancinating character. Pain worse at night.

CALC. CARB. 6, 30

It is indicated in otitis media or externa.

Inflammatory swelling of the parotids.

Chronic inflammation of the ear.

CAUSTICUM 30

Meatus swollen and excoriated.

Chronic middle ear catarrh.

Painful swelling of the external ear. Burning in the ear.

PETROLEUM 30

Swollen maxillary glands.

Eustachian tubes are affected.

Noise unbearable.

Diminished hearing.
