Fistula-In-Ano

The rectum is securely placed in a mass of fatty and cellular tissues. When owing to any reason the return becomes ulcerated, a sinus tract gets unlimited field for burrowing into this tissue. Fistula, however, is often the result of a simple or tubercular abscess in the tissue surrounding the rectum. This abscess opens into the bowel and also upon the skin surface.

Treatment

Belladonna 3x or Merc. Sol. 6 The abscess has just appeared and is throbbing; the anus is red; there is headache. Hepar Sulphur (trit.) When the abscess is threatened with pus-formation, Silicea 30 When the abscess has become an ulcer and is discharging much pus and has formed a sinus. For phthisical patients ; Bacillinum 30 (once a week). Fistula-in-ano Silicea 6, Calc. Phos. 12x (trit).

Try also—Causticum 6, China 30, Calc. Carb. 30, Sulphur 30, Acid Nitric 6, Graphites 6, Aesculus 6, Ratanhia 3. Apply locally a lotion of Calendula Ө (1 dram in 2 ozs. of water).

Keep the patient on a liberal diet in an excellent hygienic condition. There is no objection to his taking fish or milk.

For Lachrymal fistula (in the eye and nose) Fluoric Acid 6.
