About Ras Manikya Ras

Ras Manikya Ras, an Ayurvedic medicine whose name is a misnomer because it does not actually contain Rasa or Manikya but was given that name because of its color resemblance to ruby, is effective in treating a variety of diseases caused by vitiation of the vata and kapha doshas.

Haratala, also known as orpiment, is a deep orange-yellow sulphide of arsenic with the formula As2S3, and is used in medicine preparation after being properly purified. Ras Manikya Ras is made by heating powder of Shuddha Haratala placed in between Abharaka Patra (mica sheets).
