Glandular Fever

It is generally prevalent as a contagious disease amongst the children. High temperature, red cheeks, swelling of joints of neck and nose, enlargement of liver and spleen, loss of appetite are the predominating symptoms. Fever may not continue for a long period but glandular affections last for two or three weeks. In some cases, fever relapses again and again. The prognosis of the disease is not known.

Treatment

Belladonna 30 with glandular affection and fever. Calcarea 6—30 are beneficial to those children whose growth is retarded and to those who easily perspire. If swelling of the gland still exists after the fever subsides Phytolacca 6—30 is useful. Hep. Sulph. 6 in pain of suppuration, and hyper-sensitiveness. Silicea 6 after pus has ceased to form. Calendula lotion may be used externally. In chronic cases, Bacillinum 30, Kali Iod. 1—30, Calc. Iod. 3x, Baryta Carb. 6 are recommended. Special care should be taken about diet and regimen.
