Prolapsus Ani

In those who are naturally weak (as in children and old men) or those rendered weak by diarrhoea, dysentery or constipation, severe straining at stools may cause some six inches of rectum to be extruded, with consequent pain and bleeding.

Treatment

Put the patient in knee-elbow position and with the help of a clean piece of soft rag soaked in cold water. Replace the extruded gut from the margin towards the center. Having done so, put a pledget of cotton wool on the anus and finally fix up a “T-Bandage.”

Aloe 3 Diarrhoea with blood in stools. Ignatia 3 Straining at stools. Podophyllum 6 Morning diarrhoea; stools are yellow or green, with burning in anus; much straining but scanty scyballae is passed. Ferrum Phos. 6: For children.
