HOMOEOPATHY FOR BRAIN TUMOR

197

An abnormal cell growth or mass in the brain or close to the brain is called a brain tumor.

Brain tumors can start in the brain (primary brain tumors), spread to other parts of the body (secondary, or metastatic) and start in the brain (malignant brain tumors), or both. Some brain tumors are benign (noncancerous), and some are cancerous (malignant).

The location and growth rate of a brain tumor, along with how it affects your nervous system’s operation, determine how quickly a tumor develops.

The type, size, and location of your brain tumor will all influence the treatment options available to you.

Primary brain tumors can have a variety of causes. They can develop in the brain or in tissues nearby, including the pituitary gland, pineal gland, cranial nerves, and the meninges, which cover the brain.

In order for normal cells to grow and divide more quickly and to survive when healthy cells would die, primary brain tumors must first develop errors (mutations) in their DNA. This leads to a mass of abnormal cells that eventually forms a tumor.

Compared to secondary brain tumors, which develop after cancer has spread from another location to the brain, primary brain tumors are much less frequent.

Primary brain tumors can be classified into a wide range of different subtypes based on the cells that are present.

Gliomas. These tumors, which include oligoastrocytomas, oligodendrogliomas, glioblastomas, astrocytomas, and ependymomas, start in the brain or spinal cord.

Meningiomas. Most meningiomas are noncancerous and develop from the meninges, the membranes that cover your brain and spinal cord.

Acoustic neuromas (schwannomas). On the nerves that travel from your inner ear to your brain and regulate balance and hearing, these benign tumors can grow.

Pituitary adenomasThe pituitary gland is located at the base of the brain, and these tumors, which are typically benign, can affect pituitary hormones, which have an impact on the entire body.

.MedulloblastomasMedulloblastomas, which begin in the lower back of the brain and usually spread through the spinal fluid, are the most common cancerous brain tumors in children. These tumors are less common in adults, but they can still develop.

PNETs.Primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNETs) are uncommon cancerous tumors that can develop anywhere in the brain and originate from embryonic (fetal) cells.

Germ cell tumors. When the testicles or ovaries are still developing in childhood, germ cell tumors can form there, but they can also spread to other parts of the body, like the brain.

Craniopharyngiomas. The pituitary gland and other structures close to the brain may be affected as the craniopharyngioma slowly spreads from its location near the pituitary gland, which secretes hormones that regulate many bodily functions.

Cancer that begins elsewhere and spreads to the brain

Secondary (metastatic) brain tumors are growths that develop when cancer spreads (metastasizes) from another part of the body to the brain.

In rare instances, a metastatic brain tumor may be the first indication of cancer that started elsewhere in your body. Secondary brain tumors are most common in people with a history of cancer.

Brain tumors that are secondary to primary tumors are much more frequent.

The brain can be affected by any cancer, but the most frequent ones are:

· Breast cancer

· Colon cancer

· Kidney cancer

· Lung cancer

· Melanoma

Depending on the size, location, and rate of growth of the brain tumor, there are many different signs and symptoms that can be present.

Brain tumor-related general warning signs and symptoms may include:

Headaches that have recently started or have changed in pattern

Gradually increasing the frequency and intensity of headaches

· Unexplained nausea or vomiting

Vision issues, including double vision, blurry vision, or loss of peripheral vision

A leg or arm losing sensation or movement gradually

· Difficulty with balance

· Speech difficulties

· Confusion in everyday matters

· Personality or behavior changes

Seizures, particularly in a person who has never had seizures before

· Hearing problems

There are a number of risk factors that have been identified by doctors that may raise your risk of developing a brain tumor, but the majority of people with primary brain tumors do not know what caused the tumor.

Your age.A brain tumor can occur at any age, but it is more common in older adults. Some types of brain tumors almost exclusively affect children. As you age, your risk of developing a brain tumor increases.

Exposure to radiation.Ionizing radiation, which includes radiation therapy used to treat cancer and radiation exposure from atomic bombs, is a category of radiation that is associated with an increased risk of brain tumors in those who have been exposed to it.

Brain tumors have not been proven to be caused by more prevalent types of radiation, including radiofrequency radiation from microwave ovens and cellphones and electromagnetic fields from power lines.

Family history of brain tumors. Those who have a family history of brain tumors or genetic syndromes that increase the risk of developing brain tumors are at a slightly higher risk of developing them themselves.

**Diagnosis-**If a brain tumor is suspected in you, your doctor may advise a range of exams and procedures, such as:

A neurological exam.Checking your vision, hearing, balance, coordination, strength, and reflexes are just a few of the neurological examination’s possible components. Difficulty in one or more of these areas may indicate that a brain tumor may be affecting a part of your brain.

Imaging tests.Brain tumors are frequently detected using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which in some cases involves injecting a dye into a vein in your arm prior to the MRI scan.

Functional MRI, perfusion MRI, and magnetic resonance spectroscopy are just a few of the specialized MRI scan elements that can assist your doctor in assessing the tumor and formulating a treatment plan.

Positron emission tomography (PET) and computer tomography (CT) scans are two additional imaging tests that may be performed.

Tests to find cancer in other parts of your body.Your doctor may advise tests and procedures to identify the location of the cancer’s origin, such as a chest CT scan to check for signs of lung cancer, if it’s thought that your brain tumor may be the result of cancer that has spread from another part of your body.

Collecting and testing a sample of abnormal tissue (biopsy). The removal of the brain tumor can include a biopsy, or the procedure can be done separately using a needle.

Your neurosurgeon drills a small hole into your skull and inserts a thin needle. Tissue is removed using the needle, which is frequently guided by CT or MRI scanning. A stereotactic needle biopsy may be performed for brain tumors in hard to reach areas or extremely sensitive areas of your brain that might be damaged by a more extensive operation.

In order to establish a diagnosis, prognosis, and, most importantly, to determine the best course of treatment, the biopsy sample is examined under a microscope to ascertain whether it is cancerous or benign.

HOMOEOPATHIC REMEDIES

When it comes to treating brain tumors, homoeopathy is a rapidly expanding system that is used throughout the world. Its strength lies in its obvious effectiveness as it adopts a holistic approach by promoting inner balance at the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical levels.
